About the Mission
Over 450 women were screened for Cervical Cancer in Kenyan slums Kibera and Mathare. The Team Kids Women's Health volunteers trained 12 nurses and midwives on breast and pelvic exams and VIA and cryotherapy. 2 Cryotherapy systems were donated to the SHOFCO clinics in Kibera.
Dr. Peter Walsh conducted phase 2 of Group Therapy training sessions for 20 of the SHOFCO social workers in order for them to help girls who have been traumatized by gender based violence. It is estimated that 1 out 3 girls in urban slums have been victims of gender based violence.
